The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV Is $181,000 But Somehow Also A Bargain

Want to get your hands on the first all-electric Maybach model? You should. The new Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is the definition of high-end, emission-free driving – as I learned firsthand. And now the premium EV is heading to Mercedes-Benz dealerships with a starting price of $181,050 (with the $1,150 destination fee included),

At $181,050 out of the box, the Maybach EQS is the second most affordable Maybach model in the range behind the gas-powered GLS, which costs $171,150. The Maybach S-Class is the most expensive of the trio at $194,550.

But compared to some of the other posh SUVs in its class, the Maybach EQS is a relative bargain. The Bentley Bentayga EWB and Rolls-Royce Cullinan cost $226,900 and $345,000, respectively. Only the BMW XM is more affordable at $159,995.

  Base Price
Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV $181,050
Bentley Bentayga EWB $226,900
BMW XM $159,995
Rolls-Royce Cullinan $345,000

Standard equipment includes an air suspension with adaptive damping, 21-inch wheels, and the signature MBUX Hyperscreen, complete with a 17.7-inch center touchscreen and a 12.3-inch passenger screen. A three-row bench seat comes standard in the second row, but buyers can swap for a no-cost Executive Rear Seat package with two lounge chairs instead. That also adds folding rear tables, rear heated armrests, and two 11.6-inch touchscreens, as well as heated and cooled cup holders – which you also get up front.

Every Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV uses the same dual-motor electric powertrain with 649 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to propel the EQS to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds. The standard 107.8-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack achieves an estimated 300 miles of driving range.

Buyers that want even more out of their Maybach can the Night Series package with the executive rear seats for a cool $25,000. That option adds dark chrome elements on the exterior, 21-inch wheels, walnut interior accents, black pearl Nappa leather, and unique ambient lighting elements. Adding that package brings the total cost to $206,050.

Not a bad deal all things considered. Just make sure you have some cash leftover for that trip to space in a giant Maybach-designed balloon.
