The five-star Lowry Hotel is offering an ‘unlimited afternoon tea’ to celebrate this year’s Mother’s Day. Though the limitless offer does, as you’d expect, have a couple of caveats going on.
Customers will be able to book in for a two-hour slot, between 12pm and 4pm on March 27, with the cakes, tea and savouries flowing for the whole duration.
On the sweet side of things, that will feature the likes of a lemon and ginger choux craqualin, raspberry and white chocolate and pistachio gateaux, praline tart with milk chocolate and Lowry honey (which comes fresh from the Manchester Bee Centre) and passion fruit cheesecake with a rainbow selection of colourful flavoured Macaroons.
Savouries on offer will also include Lincolnshire pork and wild mushroom sausage rolls and sandwiches including poached Loch Duart salmon with horseradish crème fraiche, baked ham with piccalilli and oak smoked cheese with carrot and spring onion.
Then, of course, there will be either fruit or plain scones with clotted cream and jam, while for kids there’s ham, tuna and egg sandwiches, strawberry marshmallow skewers with a chocolate dipping sauce, double chocolate brownies and homemade candyfloss.
The cost per adult is £35 and £15 for kids, with entertainment provided by the hotel’s pianist and a magician touring the tables.
Usually served in its Riverside Restaurant, the Mother's Day afternoon tea has been upgraded to the hotel’s Grand Ballroom.

Said a spokesperson for the hotel: “We love hosting events at The Lowry Hotel and as we move out of the pandemic, we’re so excited to be able to host this family-friendly day to celebrate all the great mothers and mother figures out there.
“Our limitless Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea has been designed to ensure families and friends can spend quality time together, whilst enjoying unlimited treats and tea.”
The Lowry Hotel is the only five-star hotel in Salford, based on the banks of the River Irwell. It is known as a hotspot for visiting superstars and footballers with guests over the years including the likes of Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Simon Cowell and Sir Tom Jones.
Bookings for the Mother's Day afternoon tea can be made through the hotel’s website.
