Building a business creates a strange contradiction. The larger the company becomes, the more people surround the founder. Teams expand, leadership structures take shape, and the business develops a wider network of customers, investors, and partners. Yet the number of people with whom a founder can have a candid conversation can become smaller.
The reason is simple. Some decisions carry a weight that is difficult to explain unless the person listening has lived through something similar.
