The latest COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics today — Tuesday, August 23.

Victoria

There have been another 25 COVID-19 deaths in Victoria.

There are 433 cases in hospital, with 26 of those in intensive care and seven requiring ventilation.

There were 3,638 new cases reported today. 

NSW

The state has recorded 32 more COVID-19 deaths.

There are 1,928 cases in hospital, 49 of those in intensive care. 

There were 5,567 new cases announced today.

ACT

The ACT hasn't recorded any new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 119 cases in hospital, with two of those in intensive care. 

There were 258 new cases announced today.

Tasmania

Tasmania hasn't recorded any new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 55 cases in hospital in the state, including two people in intensive care. 

There were 326 new cases announced today.

Queensland

Queensland has recorded 26 new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 411 cases in hospital in the state, including 10 people in intensive care. 

There were 2,782 new cases announced today.

Western Australia

Western Australia has recorded two new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 243 cases in hospital in the state, including five people in intensive care. 

There were 1,772 new cases announced today.

South Australia

South Australia has recorded 10 new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 242 cases in hospital in the state, including eight people in intensive care and three being ventilated.

There were 850 new cases announced today.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory hasn't reported any new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 26 cases in hospital in the territory, but no patients in intensive care.

There were 145 new cases announced today.
