The latest COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics today — Wednesday, August 3.

Victoria

There have been another six deaths of people with COVID-19 in Victoria.

There are 743 cases in hospital, with 40 of those in intensive care and eight requiring ventilation.

There were 9,122 new cases today. 

New South Wales

The state has recorded 39 more deaths of people with COVID-19, including 10 historical deaths notified through the NSW Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages.

There are 2,288 cases in hospital, with 67 of those in intensive care. 

There were 16,648 new cases announced today.

Tasmania

Tasmania has reported three more deaths of people with COVID-19.

There are 101 cases in hospital, with seven of those in intensive care. 

There were 892 new cases announced today.

Queensland

Queensland has reported six more deaths of people with COVID-19.

There are 788 cases in hospital, with 22 of those in intensive care. 

There were 6,399 new cases announced today.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory has reported one more death of a person with COVID-19.

There are 57 cases in hospital in the territory, with one of those in intensive care. 

There were 366 new cases announced today.

Western Australia

Western Australia has reported four more deaths of people with COVID-19.

There are 404 cases in hospital, with 12 of those in intensive care.

There were 4,062 new cases announced today.

Australian Capital Territory

The territory has reported one more death of a person with COVID-19.

There are 143 cases in hospital, with two of those in intensive care.

There were 889 new COVID-19 cases announced today.

South Australia

South Australia has reported six more deaths of people with COVID-19.

There are 337 cases in hospital, with 11 of those in intensive care.

There were 2,860 new COVID-19 cases announced today.
