The Inbetweeners star Simon Bird has cast doubt on a revival for the hit Channel 4 comedy. The show, which ran for three series and two follow-up movies, last aired in 2010 and has become a cult classic over the years.
While promoting his new sitcom Everyone Else Burns, the 38-year-old actor told the Radio Times that he thinks a revival would be a "terrible idea." He explained: "What was funny about these characters was the stage of life they were at.
"If they got back together now, I’m not sure that would be funny. I think it might just be sort of sad and creepy," he added. Bird has continually denied returning his to his role of 'briefcase w**ker' Will McKenzie. His cast mates Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison have all echoed similar thoughts.

When asked about returning, Bird previously The Guardian: "It’s a hard no, I’m afraid. It just wouldn’t be the show people want or remember. Much better to leave it as a happy memory. Cut to us all doing a third film for Netflix next year … Anything’s possible. Honestly, you can’t trust a single word I’ve said in this interview. It’s all filler, no killer."
Bird's refusal to do more episodes of The Inbetweeners will come as a shame to many people, who hold it in high regard. The series, itself, was a huge success and was nominated for Best Situation Comedy at BAFTA twice.
