The Himalayan 450 Wasn’t For Everyone, So Royal Enfield Brought The Old One Back... Kinda

Adventure riders are an impossible bunch to please. Give them more power, and somebody complains the bike got too complicated. Add better suspension, ride modes, and a fancy TFT, and someone else starts reminiscing about the days when an ADV was basically a tractor with lights. Royal Enfield apparently looked at this problem and decided the easiest solution was to stop trying to make one Himalayan work for everybody.

That’s pretty much how we ended up with the new Himalayan 440, launched in India alongside the thoroughly modern Himalayan 450. And Royal Enfield isn’t exactly being subtle about what it’s doing here. Its own marketing says the original Himalayan silhouette has returned, while describing the bike as “unchanged in spirit” but stronger at heart. This isn’t the company pretending the old formula was obsolete.
