The Great British Bake Off's first episode ended with an emotional tribute on Tuesday, September 13. The Channel 4 show returned to screens for its 13th series and after fans were treated to their first instalment of time in the tent, a title card appeared onscreen that paid tribute to Chloë Avery.
Chloë was a food producer for Love Productions, the company behind Bake Off. After the episode, the production company tweeted: "In memory of Chloë Avery who was a much loved member of the Bake Off family."
Last month, Chloë's brother Henry broke the news that his sister had sadly lost her battle with cancer. Yorkshire Live reported that he had explained on Facebook that she had been diagnosed with cancer in December last year and was given just two weeks to live by doctors. She started chemotherapy the next day but sadly passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022.

He said: "Throughout this, Chloë remained adamant that she would get better and put this all behind her. There will be so many of you reading this now that won’t have even known she was unwell, but that was how she wanted it to be. Chloë wanted to reappear after this, healthy and strong with her baby boy and simply say when asked that ‘2022 had been a tough year."
The emotional moment prompted viewers to respond to Love Productions' tweet. One person replied: "I'm so sorry for your loss. She and your team have helped so many people through your SU2C productions. She made a difference."
A second wrote: "Very sorry for your loss. Thinking about everyone who knew & worked with Chloë."
And a third, who referenced their own experience of meeting Chloë: "I’m so very sorry to hear about Chloe. My deepest sympathy & condolences to all of her family & friends. She was so lovely to deal with & was very supportive & encouraging when Johnny took part in one of the @StandUp2C specials of Bake Off. That’s such sad news. RIP Chloe."
