Queen's Platinum Jubilee: All the big events in Wales including gigs, street parties and fetes

An outdoor concert in the Welsh capital featuring some of Wales' biggest stars will lead the celebrations over the four-day bank holiday for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June. Other events planned include the lighting of more than 1,500 beacons around the country to celebrate the milestone.

Live under the Stars has announced the Cardiff Castle Jubilee Celebration Concert, on Saturday, June 4, which will feature the likes of Aled Jones, Mike Peters, Bonnie Tyler and John Owen-Jones. The event, which will kick off at 3pm, will also see drumming weatherman Owain Wyn Evans take to the stage alongside funnyman Mike Doyle, the Pendyrus Male Voice Choir and the Welsh Pops Orchestra.

Promising an occasion full of "music, song and laughter", the concert will include a specially produced 'Singing in the Reign' programme to celebrate the best Welsh hits to have coincided with the Queens 70 years on the throne. It also promises a Jubilee picnic in a box as well as other food options and a full bar. Richard Perry, director of Live Under the Stars, said: "We are delighted to be producing this one-off Concert to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. We hope everyone that attends are able to make their own treasured memories of a once in a lifetime moment in our history and what better place to do it than iconic Cardiff Castle."

The Cardiff concert is just one of many events happening across Wales over the extended Bank Holiday weekend., which celebrates the Queen's 70-year reign and the first time a British monarch has reached a Platinum Jubilee on the throne. Many town councils are getting on on the fun and organising their own events while local authorities in Wales are supporting street parties being held right across the country.

Here's a full list of all the big events planned in Wales for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee over the four days in summer.

Cardiff

Jubilee Concert at Cardiff Castle

Cardiff Castle will host the biggest party of the year on the June Bank Holiday weekend when the best of Welsh entertainment comes together for the event. Aled Jones, Mike Peters, Bonnie Tyler and John Owen Jones will lead the Welsh celebrations on stage.

Adult day tickets are priced at £32.50 and children under the age of 16 can attend for free with every full paying adult. Additional under 16s are £12.50. Under 4s are free. Capacity is limited. Find out more here.

Whitchurch Village Platinum Jubilee Street Party

The Whitchurch Village Platinum Jubilee Street Party, hosted by the village residents, will close the main street to host a Big Jubilee Lunch. Open to the public, no booking is required. Just turn up and party on.

Radyr & Morganstown Jubilee Beacon Lighting

Radyr & Morganstown Community Council will be organising the event in the grounds of Radyr Comprehensive School which will feature entertainment for all the family. It will kick off with a crown-making competition and entertainers for the kids, live music and BBQ and bar for the adults, and culminating in lighting the Radyr Beacon at 9.45pm followed by fireworks.

Inclusive Jubilee Garden party

Disability play charity, Cwtch together, will be holding a garden party featuring crown making, hunting jewels in the sand, making purple playdough, sensory area, ball pit, icing biscuits, raffle, food and soft drinks. The two play sessions - held in the morning and afternoon - will need to be booked in advance.

Glory Stores

The Glory Stores, Wales's first LGBTQ+ provisions and dining room, are holding two different events to celebrate the Jubilee. There is a Hold the Tea-A Jubilee Special event which is afternoon tea with a twist. Each guest receives a glass of Bollinger B13 Blanc de Noirs 2013 upon arrival, followed by a cake stand of sandwiches, scones and pastries.

There is also the Jubilee Bollinger Flight where guests can explore the Bollinger wine collection including Bollinger NV Rose and La Grande Annee Rose 2014. The wine will be served with cheeseboards, crackers and accompaniments. You can book both events online.

Chapel 1877

The gourmet restaurant and bar Chapel 1877 are celebrating throughout the Jubilee weekend. There will be a DJ on Thursday, June, 2 and Friday, June, 3 a drag queen bottomless brunch on Friday as well, regular bottomless brunch on Saturday, June, 4 and a roast dinner served on Sunday, June, 5.

Carmarthenshire

Queens Tea Dance Morriston Big Band

The Diplomat Hotel Restaurant & Spa is hosting the Queen's Afternoon Tea Party on Sunday afternoon. The traditional afternoon tea will be served from 2.30pm followed by Morriston Big Band taking to the stage at 4pm. Tickets costs £21.95. Find out more here.

Platinum Jubilee Tea Party in the Park-Prembrey Country Park

The stunning Prembrey Country Park is holding a tea party in the park to celebrate the Jubilee on Saturday, June, 4. There will be entertainment and lawn games and tickets are on sale now for the event at £15 per person.

Caerphilly

Risca East Community Council celebrations

The community council is putting on a special event to celebrate tree planting and new benches for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. There will be a community picnic and the winners of the schools competition will be announced for the portrait and poetry competition.

Bridgend

Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations

The St Brides Major community council is putting on an afternoon and evening of celebrations as part of the Jubilee Beacons.

Neath Port Talbot

Seven Sisters Community Hall – Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

This community event promises "fun galore" including an exhibition of the village history, a 1950s-inspired lunch club meal with music from the era, a Prince and Princesses party, a Mad Hatter's tea party and numerous children's competitions through the week. Find out more here.

Ferry Fest, Briton Ferry

The community of Briton Ferry are organising a festival with music, stalls and children's rides. The event will see the return of the pram parade, something which hasn't been held in the town for three decades. The festival will also bring together the town's marching band who haven’t been together since their teens and are all now in their late 50s.

Newport

Newport’s Big Jubilee Lunch

Newport's Beechwood Park will be hosting a Big Jubilee Lunch. Organisers have promised "fun for all the family" including entertainment, refreshments and a big screen to watch the national Platinum Jubilee festivities. All you have to do is bring your own picnic.

Queen’s Jubilee Beacon

The Jubilee Beacons is one of the official events of the Platinum Jubilee and Newport’s beacon will be lit at the Queen Elizabeth II field, Ringland. Newport is also taking part in a specially designed "augmented reality" trail for the four weeks leading up to the beacon being lit. The trail will allow players to visit seven characters that have come to life from Buckingham Palace and are visiting locations around Newport on a day out. Guided by Sir Barnaby Beacon, players will learn about a different decade in Her Majesty’s 70-year reign.

Jubilee Lunch Celebration – Holiday Inn Newport

The Holiday Inn at Newport is organising a two-course Sunday lunch with tea or coffee and a slice of jubilee cake to mark Her Majesty’s amazing achievement. Advance booking required.

Vale of Glamorgan

Platinum Jubilee Festival

The Vale's Amelia Trust Farm is holding a Platinum Jubilee Festival with a special trail, tractor rides, lawn games, food vendors and lots more. As well as the festival, visitors will be able to see the animals, play in the park and enjoy woodland walks too. Advance booking required.

Monmouthshire

Llantilio Crossenny QPJ activities

Llantilio Crossenny community council are planning a series of events to include a Beacon lighting on the Thursday evening and a live screening of the Palace concert on Saturday June 4. The festivities will conclude with a 'Big Bang' lunch on Sunday. Organisers will also be creating a book recording everyone who lives in the community repeating something that was produced in 2000.

Swansea

Mumbles Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday Celebrations

Mumbles is gearing up for a very busy and exciting Jubilee weekend. On Thursday, May, 2 there will be a vintage street party, 50s and 60s themed, where Newton Road will be closed.

There will also be the lighting of the Beacon on Thursday and on Friday, June, 3 the grounds of Oystermouth Castle will have a fun fair in the day and a 70s themed disco in the evening. Saturday, June, 4 will see the fun fair back in the day and a 80s themed disco in the evening, and Sunday, June, 5 will be the big lunch where you can bring a picnic to Oystermouth Castle and there will also be fair rides, stalls and music.

Gerry Cinnamon at Singleton Park

Gerry Cinnamon will be performing at Singleton Park, in only a handful of outdoor shows, on Saturday, June, 4. He will be joined by The Kooks and The Reytons as Singleton Park rocks out over the Jubilee weekend.

Brecon Platinum Jubilee Market

There'll be a special market in the historic market town of Brecon which promises something for everyone. With many traders from all over Wales and just over the border in England there’s bound to be something you’ll enjoy. Find out more here.

Platinum Jubilee Event at the Bandstand, Brecon

Brecon's town council is putting on a night of musical entertainment followed by the lighting of a beacon on Thursday. Everyone is invited to bring a picnic and there are prizes for the best fancy dress queen.

Felindre Village Fete

The Felindre Village Hall Committee are planning an event to get the whole community together for fun and games, music and laughter and raising some money for local charities.

Montgomery Beacon Lighting

Montgomery town council is holding its own beacon lighting on Thursday evening with the local Girl Guide Group.

Llanidloes Musical Celebrations, Thanksgiving and Lighting of The Beacons

Starting at 6.30pm on the Thursday evening, the Llanidloes Platinum Jubilee Celebrations will begin at The Port by Long Bridge to walk up to Llanidloes Community Centre for an evening of musical celebrations and thanksgiving to start at 7.15 pm. This will culminate with ‘A song for the Commonwealth’ at 9.45pm and lighting of the Beacons. Find out more here.

Carnival Day – Welshpool

Welshpool town council is organising a carnival procession, starting at noon, which will leave from Berriew Street Car Park, go around Broad Street, High Street, Jehu Road, Brook Street and down to Maes-y-dre Recreation Ground. Anyone can take part, whether they have a lorry or a tractor and trailer or whether they just want to dance or walk around. There will also be a variety of charity, community and food stalls and entertainment in the arena from 1pm and live bands from 5pm.

Hay Festival

The annual Hay Festival will finish on Jubilee weekend, with a range of free and ticketed events. The festival will begin on Thursday, May, 26 and run until Sunday, June, 5.

The events over the Jubilee weekend include Shakespeare and Company Podcast Live, Hilary Rodham Clinton in conversation with Helena Kennedy, performances of comedy from The Lord Chamberlain's Men and After Hours: Director's Tour of Hay Castle.

HowTheLightGetsIn Festival

Hay-on-Wye will also be home to another festival over the Jubilee weekend the HowTheLightGetsIn festival. Running through out the long weekend the festival will have debates, music, comedy and cinema for you to enjoy. Tickets start at £8.

Wrexham

Street Party at the Hall

The Bwlchgwyn Village Hall Association (BVHA) is laying on a street party style Big Jubilee Lunch where families and people from the local community can bring their own picnic to eat together. There will be music, games, competitions and a raffle during the event. Tea, coffee and squash available for a donation

Quay Watermen’s Jubilee celebration weekend

The Quay Watermen's Association is holding a fun day, big lunch street party and boat trips.

Denbighshire

Neuadd Owen Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations

The Neuadd Owen Village Hall will host a series of events over the four days kicking off with the beacon lighting on Mynydd Y Gaer, Llannefydd on Thursday. There will be a family fun afternoon on the Saturday which will go into the evening for the adults with a bar, hog roast and live music.

On Sunday, there will be a service of Thanksgiving followed by a 1950s Big Picnic Lunch with a display of classic cars.

St. Joseph’s Community Jubilee Picnic In the Park

St. Joseph’s Community Centre will host a picnic in the park where everything will be free for children. Bring your own picnic.

Across Wales

Cadw

Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service which own and look after many historical sites in Wales, are running Jubilee events across their attractions. There will be a garden party at Raglan Castle in Usk, where there will be pimms and prosecco, Jubilee crown making at Chepstow Castle in Chepstow and Men at Arms, where you and your family can train to be knight, at Beaumaris Castle in Anglesey.

National Trust

National Trust sites across Wales are also celebrating the Jubilee with a variety of events. There will be live music, Punch and Judy shows and cream tea at Erddig in Wrexham, traditional 1950s games, picnics and afternoon tea at Chirk Castle in Wrexham and Jubilee crafts at Tredegar House in Newport and much more at different National Trust sites.
