If you wander through Temple Newsam, you’ll come across bungalows as far as the eye can see - scattered around peaks and valleys amidst the leafy quiet terrain.
Temple Newsam’s house prices increased more than anywhere else in Leeds within the space of a year.
Residents put it down to having ample amenities like Lidl and Matalan so close by and convenient road links, there's the M1 and M62 and by all accounts, an excellent bus service.

House prices shot up 22 per cent to June 2021, with the average home in the neighbourhood selling for around £225,000. The average sale price was £185,000 the year before.
This follows a cycle of increasing prices throughout the years. LeedsLive ventured into the Leeds ward to find out why it had become so desirable and in demand.
St James Hospital nurse Mary Fitzgerald, 58, lives in Temple Newsam, just a couple of streets from her daughter, who lives there with a partner and Mary’s grandchildren.
Mary has recently moved into a bungalow in the area and adds that it was “very expensive”.
She believes the road links are what makes Temple Newsam such a desirable area.
Mary said: “The M1 and the M62 are on our doorstep. There’s a good network of schools in this area.”
She says it’s also very convenient for getting to town.
'We've got a Lidl'
Retired delivery-driver Pat, 80, who didn’t want her last name published, has lived there for 20 years.
Pat’s recently widowed and says she’s just started to get to know her neighbours.
She may not know her neighbours so well but she loves the shops Temple Newsam has to offer, especially the Lidl - which is only a brief drive away in Halton.
Pat said: “It’s a nice area. It’s a quiet area. You don’t get much trouble. We’ve got a Lidl – it’s convenient, it’s fantastic. We’ve got quite a lot of buses going into town.
“Shopping is handy, we’ve got a Lidl, Tesco, Matalan. There’s a pub. We’ve never had much trouble around here.”
