Recently, a situationship I was in came to an end because I had the gall to suggest I sleep over at his house. “I don’t think you should stay over,” was the simple response I got, and we haven’t spoken since. But do I even have any right to be angry at the guy? In truth, no one is sleeping over anymore.
The post-shag sleepover is dying. I live in a house of four girls, and when I know one of them has stayed out late with a guy, I almost always hear the telltale sound of their bedroom door as they return alone in the wee hours, or let one of their guests out into the night. Sometimes I almost expect to hear them shooing the boys out, “Go on, scram!” Such is the level of ruthless efficiency.
