No matter how good we might be at cooking, mastering the art of a perfectly poached egg can be a long and painful process.
While there are certain egg-poaching gadgets that make it easier, doing it from scratch often ends in a messy failure.
But one man has shared a tip inspired by a Michelin chef that he claims makes poached eggs "perfect every time" - and it's different to how he was taught to do it in a professional kitchen.
The TikTok user @eatlikeanadult, who worked as a chef, often posts different recipes and tips "for healthy eaters that want to cook better", and this particular poached egg video has racked up over a million views.
In the video's voiceover, he explained: "In this video, I'm gonna show you how to make the perfect poached egg every time.
"When I was taught to do poached eggs in professional kitchens, I was taught to add vinegar to the water and create a vigorous swirl.
"But I recently saw a Michelin star chef do it and immediately adopted this new way of doing it, because it's better in my opinion."
He explained that you'll need the "freshest" eggs, stored at room temperature, and get a simmering pot of water on the go.
The following step is important for achieving a mess-free poached egg, as he explained: "Crack your egg into a sieve, so it strains off those watery parts of the egg white for about a minute."
Then, once you've added salt to the water, the "critical" part comes next.
"You stir your water, but you wait until it has the gentlest of swirls. So when [the egg] goes in, you've got the gentlest of movement and it doesn't stick," he said.
Once the egg has been eased into the water, all you need to do is set a timer for two minutes. Once the time is up, he explained that you should "test the firmness" of the egg and put it back in to get the finish you like.
When it comes to serving the egg, the recipe blogger said: "Take it out with a slotted spoon and put it on to a paper towel before serving, to get rid of the excess water.
"And that's how you get this perfectly poached egg with this beautifully runny yolk."
People were blown away in the comments by how simple the trick appeared to be, with many saying how desperate they were to try it.
One person said: "It’s 4am… I’ve not slept yet and I’m about to make this I can’t wait".
Another added: "This egg is advert-worthy!" along with a heart-eyes emoji.
"You sir are a genuis!", a third weighed in, with a fourth adding: "That's the most perfect looking egg I've ever seen".
