The Centre Livingston will support West Lothian kids charity this month

The Centre, Livingston announced Kidzeco as the latest monthly charity partner in a new campaign to support local good causes.

As part of its Support in the Community Initiative, The Centre will help a different charity each month to raise awareness and appeal for donations, and also present them with a £250 Gift Card.

The social enterprise, which is based in the mall, was set up in 2010 to provide families with high-quality pre-loved children’s clothes, toys and essential equipment at affordable prices.

It also works to highlight how the cycle of donating and purchasing can help the local community and the planet.

Any profits received from the sale of donations are reinvested to support families in the local community through projects like KidzStart which offers free baby essentials to families struggling financially.

They also run the Kidz n Kin community space at The Centre, Livingston which provides a safe and welcoming environment for families with a cafe, small soft play and imaginative play area and a wide variety of classes including Buggy Walks, Messy Play, Weaning Workshops and Baby Massage.

In addition, they also run various Dadz sessions, including Dadz Trekz and Dadz Timez.

Dadz Trekz are buggy walks for dads and male carers while Dadz Timez is where they can also use the Kidz n Kin community space with their babies and toddlers and Mini First Aid courses which cover everything from bumps and bruises to CPR.

As part of the charity partnership, Kidzeco is appealing for donations of any kid’s clothes, toys or baby goods which can be dropped off at The Centre’s Donation Box, located next to the Customer Service Desk.

Particularly useful items include baby toiletries, nappies, wipes, vests, babygrows, blankets, socks, mitts, knitted cardigans, baby shoes and bibs.

All clothing should be new or unworn and sized from tiny baby to 12 months.

The donations will be used to create special packs for families referred to KidzStart by health professionals or advice organisations, free of charge.

Ashley Bisland, Deputy Centre Director at The Centre, Livingston, said the team at the mall were pleased to be able to help Kidzeco with its work.

She said: “We are delighted to be supporting Kidzeco this month at The Centre, Livingston to help them raise awareness of the great work they do in the local community and to appeal for much-needed items of kids clothes and toiletries.”

Tracy said: “We are so pleased to be chosen as The Centre’s monthly charity partner.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to highlight our shops, some of the brilliant classes and events we run and raise awareness of our Kidz n Kin café too.

“Also being able to appeal for donations too in the mall is fantastic as it will allow us to create special packs of essential items needed by many families who are really struggling just now, through our KidzStart project.”

Today (Thursday) Kidzeco will be launching their new Bumpz 2 Babiez perinatal café, which will run every Thursday from 10am – 3pm.

It will be offering a nurturing and supportive space where both parents and parents-to-be can drop in, relax and meet people.
