The Boston Celtics are going to enshrine the date of June 17 as a holy day in franchise history.
Quite literally 16 years to the date after winning their last NBA championship, the team won its 18th championship in league history with a Game 5 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.
The two 21st century championships coming to one of the NBA legacy franchises on the same date is just too wild of a coincidence to ignore.
Of course, “617” is also the primary area code for the city of Boston. This day really must just be destiny for the Celtics. How cool is that?
Kevin Garnett really was right: anything is possible.
