For a while it looked like Poppy was behind the murders of Tom and Hollis in The Bold and the Beautiful, but after clearing the air with Bill we have to wonder if she’s been cleared of the crimes.
In the July 31 episode of B&B, Poppy revealed that she’d been in a relationship with Tom Starr (Clint Howard) around the time she met Bill, and after a discussion Bill seemed to understand why she’s been acting strangely lately. He was initially hurt that she didn’t tell him about Tom or the possibility that Tom could be Luna’s father, but eventually he says he can see why she’d be terrified of opening up with someone stalking her like that.
Poppy’s behavior has been suspicious to say the least, hence Katie’s (Heather Tom) desire to poke around in search of clues about her past. Li (Naomi Matsuda) insists that her sister isn’t a killer despite her past drug use, but Katie isn’t so sure.
Now that Poppy has cleared the air with Bill, however, we feel confident that Poppy wasn’t the one to kill Tom and Hollis after all. Yes, she had reason to want Tom out of her life, but her bigger concern was Bill finding out about their relationship and leaving her. Her guilt came from keeping the secret, not from killing anyone.
Bill not only understands why she kept her connection to Tom a secret, he understands why she is so upset about Katie asking questions and confronting her about her past.
We suspect that Poppy’s link to Tom will keep coming back to haunt her, especially when Luna finds out about it, but just because she had a connection to Tom doesn’t mean she killed him.
Things are about to get crowded in the Spencer Estate as Bill’s son, Will (Crew Morrow), comes home unannounced and scares Poppy out of her mind. Will’s presence will only make the contentious relationship between Poppy and Katie even worse as Katie fights to keep her son safe. However, we think it’s highly unlikely that Katie will find any evidence that Poppy is a murderer.
