'The Blood of Dawnwalker' Gets 60 FPS Performance Mode at Launch Thanks to Fans' Feedback

"The Blood of Dawnwalker" will launch with a 60 FPS performance mode on supported consoles. The update gives players a smoother way to experience Rebel Wolves' upcoming vampire RPG.

The announcement follows criticism surrounding the game's earlier console performance options. A previous gameplay trailer showed two modes. One targeted 30 FPS, while the other aimed for 40 FPS.

There was no 60 FPS option at the time. That disappointed some console players. The reaction was particularly strong among owners of the more powerful PlayStation 5 Pro.

Rebel Wolves has now confirmed that a 60 FPS performance mode will be available through the game's Day One patch.

60 FPS Mode Confirmed for Supported Consoles

The new performance mode will target 60 FPS on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X. Players will be able to use the mode when "The Blood of Dawnwalker" launches on September 3.

According to Rebel Wolves, the 60 FPS option was already in development when the original performance details were revealed. However, the studio was still testing the feature.

The developers chose not to announce it before they were confident it could meet their performance goals.

The community's response appears to have encouraged the team to speed up the testing process. After further work, Rebel Wolves said the results gave it enough confidence to confirm the feature for launch.

The original gameplay trailer has since been made private.

Why Players Wanted 60 FPS For 'The Blood of Dawnwalker'

Frame rate has become an important consideration for console players. A higher frame rate can move feel smoother and controls more responsive. That can be especially noticeable in an action RPG.

Combat can benefit from quicker visual feedback. Camera movement can also feel more fluid. Exploration may appear smoother when moving through detailed environments.

For a game such as "The Blood of Dawnwalker," these differences could matter during intense encounters.

The game has also attracted attention because several members of its development team previously worked on "The Witcher 3." That connection has led to comparisons between the two RPGs.

Still, frame rate alone does not determine whether an RPG succeeds.

"The Witcher 3" originally ran at 30 FPS on consoles. Despite that limitation, it became one of the most highly regarded RPGs of its generation. A later 60 FPS update improved its overall fluidity, but the game's reputation was built on much more than performance.

Launch Performance Will Be Closely Watched

The addition of a 60 FPS mode is good news for players who prioritize performance. However, the timing of the announcement may also raise questions, according to Kotaku.

The feature was still undergoing testing relatively close to launch. Modern games can face difficult technical challenges when developers attempt to balance resolution, visual quality, frame rate, and hardware limitations.

Supporting multiple console versions is another subject of talk when it comes to complexity.

The Day One patch should allow Rebel Wolves to deliver additional performance improvements alongside the game's release. For now, the studio appears confident in the results of its testing.

Players will soon discover whether "The Blood of Dawnwalker" can maintain its targeted 60 FPS performance while preserving the detailed visuals that have helped generate interest in the vampire RPG.
