The biggest gigs in Scottish history as fans prepare for Oasis reunion

THE wait for Oasis fans is finally over as Noel and Liam Gallagher have settled their family feud and have announced a UK and Ireland tour for next year – which includes two dates at Murrayfield.

The indie rock band will play two nights in Edinburgh on August 8 and 9, 2025, after a 15-year split in what could be two of the biggest stadium gigs in Scottish history.

Over the last two summers Murrayfield has hosted two of the biggest-selling stadium shows when pop royalty Taylor Swift and Harry Styles came to town.

More than 65,000 fans were in attendance to see Styles play in 2023 for his Scottish dates on the Love On Tour which set a new record.

Before setting the record in 2023 Styles’ former band One Direction held the title for selling 64,000 tickets in the Scottish capital in 2014.

However, Swift set a new attendance record this summer as crowds of nearly 73,000 each night attended multiple gigs in Edinburgh.

Altogether 220,000 people went to see her at the Scottish Eras Tour gigs as the pop sensation took to social media afterward to thank her fans as she said: “Edinburgh!!! You truly blew me away this weekend”.

Murrayfield is certainly no stranger to holding major events, with Beyonce bringing her Renaissance World Tour to Edinburgh last year as well.

Almost 55,000 fans headed to Edinburgh to see her perform while an estimated 52,000 fans went to see American rocker Bruce Springsteen last year too.

While on his Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent UK tour, the much-loved Lewis Capaldi set a new record for the highest-selling indoor show in Scotland.

His gig at the Event Complex Aberdeen, which has a capacity of 15,000, in January 2023 sold 14,951 tickets breaking the previous record held by Gerry Cinnamon in November 2019 by 146, with the Scottish rocker selling 14,805 tickets.
