Diecast
One of the biggest openings of the year, Diecast, from the people behind Ramona and The Firehouse, is a huge undertaking. An old foundry which made parts for the motor industry, this vast space is being turned into a bar, restaurant, workspace, beer garden, brewery, bakery and many things in between. It will fit 5000 people inside once it’s fully functioning, upon which there will be pizza, daiquiris and dancing.

Est
Formerly Est Est Est, the Italian favourite is now simply Est Italian, with its Trafford Centre restaurant now reopened with a new look and a new menu. There will be ‘rustic pizzas, classic pastas, vibrant salads and regional grill dishes’, as well as spritzes, Italian wines and craft beers.

Bunsik
Korean corn dogs? Yes please. This small chain - with three outlets in London - is coming north to take up the spot vacated by Bryon Burger on Piccadilly Gardens. For the uninitiated, they specialise in skewering a frankfurter, dipping it in batter and breadcrumbs and then other wonderful things like potato, diced french fries or smashed up ramen. There will also be all manner of other Korean delights from fried chicken to kimbap, Korea’s answer to sushi. It opens on July 9.

King Pins
This state-of-the-art bowling spot at Trafford Palazzo will be a bar sports nut’s dream, combining classic ten pin, the faster, shorter-laned duck pin, some ice-free curling and shuffleboard action, as well as American pool and karaoke. All the main food groups of a fine night out right there, as well as pizza from the excellent folk at Ply and bao buns from Little Bao Boy. It opens on July 17.

Public
This is the new spot from the team behind Evelyn’s (and its downstairs sister bar The Daisy). Setting up on Stevenson Square, it’s inspired by the late night bars of the Lower East Side in Manhattan and the bustling energy of New York’s Chinatown. So it’ll be serving up noodles and sandos, as well as martinis and daiquiris, with DJs playing till late. It opens mid-July.

The Wayfarer
Perched on the end of Oldham Street, this new boozer has taken over the spot left vacant by award-winning cocktail bar Mecanica. It's from the team behind Northern Quarter favourite Another Heart To Feed, and is aiming to be a 'modern boozer', with great food, DJs, live music and late opening. Go check it out, it's open now.

Juice Box
Following on from the success of wine, coffee, bottle shop and small plates spot of the same name in Didsbury, this city centre branch - filling the gap left by Neon Tiger - will be throwing fried chicken sandwiches and cocktails into the mix, as well as DJs and a late-opening bar. It throws open its doors at the end of July.

Backyard Cinema: Miami Beach
Backyard Cinema is back on the roof of the Mayfield Depot, and it's going heavy of the theming. This summer season it's going full-on 80s Miami Beach, with tons (literally) of sand, beach party events, sing-a-long movie screenings and cocktails with umbrellas in. Oh, and films like Dirty Dancing, Grease, Back to the Future, Top Gun Maverick, Mean Girls and Pulp Fiction. It opens on July 5.
