An area of Bolton is home to more bad drivers than anywhere else in Greater Manchester. A new map has revealed where the worst drivers are across the UK - with more than one in 10 drivers in some areas carrying points on their licence. There are 722 drivers with six or more points on their licence in the BL1 postcode area - covering Bolton town centre, Smithills, Halliwell and Heaton.
The BL3 postcode area - which includes Little Lever, Great Lever, Darcy Lever and Deane - has the region's next highest number of drivers with six or more points on their licences - 624. The area with the third highest number of drivers with six or more points was SK8 (Stockport) with 571.

That was followed by BL9 (Bury) with 569, M28 (Worsley, Walkden, Boothstown) with 547, and M33 (Sale), where 545 had six or more points.
The M28 postcode also had the joint highest concentration of drivers with at least three points on their licence, along with the BL7 area in Bolton. One in every 14 drivers (7pc) in those two areas have at least three points on their licence.
Some parts of Greater Manchester had much lower numbers. The M50 - the area around Salford Quays and MediaCityUK - had just 50 drivers with six or more points while the M1 postcode - covering part of Manchester city centre - had 51.
The UK postcode area with the highest number of drivers with six or more points on their licence is in Croydon, London, where there are 1,870 drivers with six or more points on their licence in the CR0 postcode area.
The below map, from our data team, shows how many drivers have six or more points on their licence in postcodes across Greater Manchester and the rest of the country. We've listed the top places in our region where drivers had six or more points on their licences but you can search for your postcode too.
When it comes to the areas where cars are most likely to be driven by someone with points on their licence, four areas in Bradford, Telford and Liverpool lead the way. More than one in every 10 drivers (11pc) in the TF8, BD13, L17 and L24 postcode areas have at least three points on their licence.
