The Alarm are set to 'take over Cardiff' with weekend of special gigs early next year. Mike Peters' evergreen rockers are to host four days of events at different sites at venues across the capital to kick off 2024.
Marking the 40th anniversary of the group's debut album Declaration, the band will play it in full (for the first time ever) at Cardiff University (Y Plas) on Friday January 19, along with other songs featured on their legendary 1984 Sound And The Fury Tour. Then on Saturday, January 20 The Alarm will play The Great Hall at Cardiff University to perform a full-on electric set, armed with tracks selected from across their long career.
And, while Saturday's uni gig will be followed by an aftershow party, there'll also be events at the city's Temple Bar on Tuesday, January 18 and Saturday, January 20. Both these will be hosted by Gareth 'Gaz Top' Jones and feature special guests, live music, conversation and film screenings.
A 'walkathon' will then take place on the morning of Sunday, January 21, heading from Norwegian Church in Cardiff Bay to Penarth and back again in aid of children’s hospice Ty Hafan. "By bringing The Gathering to Cardiff in 2024 we now have a huge resource of possibilities to add to the experience of The Alarm’s flagship event," said Peters.
"I do hope Alarm fans everywhere will welcome this opportunity to celebrate with myself and the band and rejoice in the music and songs that have brought us all together." Weekend passes for The Alarm's Gathering 2024 go exclusively on sale today (Sunday, March 19) from 7pm.
