Reading and Leeds Festival have announced that The 1975 will be stepping in as last-minute headliners when the event takes place later this month. It comes after US rock band Rage Against The Machine pulled out of the line-up announcing a medical issue involving their frontman.
The US rock band announced on Thursday, August 11 that they were unfortunately having to cancel the European leg of their tour after 52-year-old vocalist Zack de la Rocha was told by doctors he should not perform. Their statement, which was shared on social media, did not confirm the medical issue in question, but Zack was reported to have injured his leg whilst performing in Chicago in July.
The statement read: "Per medical guidance, Zack de la Rocha has been advised that the August and September 2022 UK and European leg of Rage Against The Machine tour cannot proceed. It is with great disappointment that we announce this cancellation. Rage Against The Machine will be finishing their run at Madison Square Garden on August 11, 12 & 14 and then Zack must return home for rest and rehabilitation.
