Chelsea legend and former defender John Terry has backed his former side to emerge victorious in Saturday’s FA Cup final.
Chelsea face Liverpool after reaching the final of the competition for the third successive season but they lost to Leicester and Arsenal in 2021 and 2020 respectively. The Reds are searching for their eighth FA Cup trophy but have not won the competition since 2006 while Chelsea are looking for their ninth.
And Terry, who won the FA Cup five times while a player at Chelsea, which included defeating the Reds 2-1 in the 2011/12 FA Cup final, believes his former club have what it takes to upset the odds at Wembley.

“Good luck @Chelseafc,” he tweeted. “Liverpool are a top team and have shown that all season, but if anyone can WE CAN, we need everyone to a man today to produce when it really matters. That’s what we, you, have done for years in these big finals.”
Despite being 16 points clear in the league, it won’t be easy for Liverpool with the Reds having not beaten Chelsea in normal time this season on three separate occasions. In both Premier League games they drew - 1-1 against a 10-man Chelsea at Anfield and 2-2 at Stamford Bridge. Similarly, the Carabao Cup final was anything but your classic 0-0. Chelsea had three goals ruled out for offside while Liverpool had one before Kepa Arrizabalaga’s missed penalty handed the Reds an 11-10 spot kick victory.
