'That fella from Bournemouth did all right' - Newcastle United fans rejoice as Magpies finish 11th:

Eddie Howe was the target of Newcastle fans' praise after the side won away to Burnley to finish the season 11th in the Premier League. Newcastle United beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor, with both goals coming from Callum Wilson, including one penalty. The result meant that Burnley were relegated to the Championship.

Fans of Newcastle were ecstatic as it meant the team finished 11th in the table on 49 points. That had seemed unthinkable just months ago, when Newcastle were in the relegation zone after a poor start to the season.

Fans' focus was on Eddie Howe, who was appointed as a replacement for previous boss Steve Bruce in November. He not only made some savvy signings, but also transformed a host of the existing squad.

On social media, @TomJCarlisle tweeted: "That fella from Bournemouth who got a team relegated did alright in the end..."

@SolarrBoop wrote: "What an appointment Eddie Howe has turned out to be, fantastic second-half of the season to finish 11th. Can't wait for next season, first time in a while I've said that!"

@joshybanyard said: "I love this club! No wins in the first 14 games and we still Finished 11th, absolutely unreal from Eddie Howe and the mags! Next season has the potential to be incredible."

@ADMiller_88 added: "Started off this season hating football lost any love for it, October slapped me in my face and bang my love is back! My teams back! My clubs coming back!"

@joeymarkiewicz tweeted: "Great finish to the season. Amazing to think we finished 11th after being winless the first 14 games of the season."

While @LeekoNE28 had a message for some of the players who may have played their last for the club: "OUR LADS! Bring on next season & to the lads leaving this summer! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the service & commitment you gave to us Geordies! ONCE A GEORDIE ALWAYS A GEORDIE! HWTL!."

Attention also turned to next season.

@WarriorNUFC07 wrote: "49 points to think we were dead and buried 14 games in but here we are in 11th place. Next season we push for Europe, absolutely love this club."

While @richiebenzo was very positive: "We’re top 4 next season!"
