A woman currently undergoing chemo treatment ordered some cheese bread from Domino’s, only to receive a half-baked version of the signature entree. When she tried to get a replacement for her cheese bread, her local spot refused to redeliver to her, arguing that it would come out of their delivery fee and tip.
“Your company screwed it up. So for you to say, [we] wouldn’t get the delivery fee or a tip, it’s kinda like, well, ‘you guys screwed up something, so you… have to fix it,’” said Lindsay Jaeger in a video that’s gotten over 1,000 views.
Since then, commenters have expressed outrage at the “crazy” amount of cornmeal dust on her cheesebread, as well as the location’s response to her concerns.
Cheese bread gone wrong
Jaeger was expecting an order from Domino’s for herself and her grandkids. The woman had recently finished her fourth round of chemo and wasn’t able to go outside due to the medications she was taking.
“I order two pizzas, stuffed cheesy bread, and their new cinnamon bites. We get the food, [and] the two pizzas are fine. The stuffed cheesy bread is not, but the cinnamon bites are fine,” she told viewers.
She noticed a yellow layer of grit at the bottom of her order. She had her daughter taste the order, only to see that it was completely underbaked.
Jaeger called up her local Domino’s again and asked if they could possibly resend the cheese bread.
“I had chemo today, and my particular chemo drug doesn’t allow me to go outside,” she told the driver. “Is there any way you could have a driver just run it down to me? I’m about two and a half blocks from this store.”
But the employee refused, citing additional costs. They allegedly said, “That actually wouldn’t work because if we send a driver out there, we are foregoing a delivery fee as well as a tip.”
Jaeger felt frustrated, especially considering the fact that she was willing to tip again for the order to get redone. That Domino’s location then offered her $12 in store credit to replace the cheese bread. Jaeger still felt disappointed by the offer, considering she was hoping to have the bread for dinner that night.
@lindsayjaeger Story time of my Dominos order. Did you know they used cornmeal for their base? I learned something new today!#pizza #fyp #viral #dominos #cornmeal ♬ original sound – Lindsay Jaeger
How bad was the bread?
Toward the end of her video, she included a photo of what she was supposed to receive from Domino’s and what she actually received. Viewers quickly noticed the half-baked appearance with a “huge pile of cornmeal” and little to no cheese topping.
“Sheesh. They use that cornmeal on the bottom of pizzas and bread when they bake it to keep it from sticking, I believe. It’s not really in the mix, it’s something that they dust the pan with,” said one commenter.
Another added, “Oh my that is totally rude of them. They should have corrected it [with] no questions or money asked. Domino’s needs to do better.”
The Mary Sue has reached out to Jaeger and Domino’s for comment.
