BHIWANDI: At least one person died and two sustained injuries after a ground plus one-storey structure collapsed on the adjoining house in Thane's Bhiwandi on Sunday morning, police said.
The deceased was identified as Gulshan Ansari (45).
Gulshan's relatives Sagir Ansari (45) and Mehtab (30) were also injured in the mishap.
According to police, the incident happened when the slab of Moinuddin Ansari's house collapsed on the adjoining house where five family members of Ansari were asleep and got stuck under the debris.
Following the incident, locals informed the fire brigade and helped them in rescuing two of the trapped people safely while three others were rushed to hospital where the woman was declared brought dead.
