KALYAN: The Mahatma Phule police in Thane's Kalyan booked the manager of Sai Mahadev Dhaba for selling illegal liquor to customers.
The police seized the liquor bottles worth Rs 4,000 and registered a case against the manager, Shubham Masurkar, under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
On late Thursday night, police sub-inspector Kiran Bhise along with his team raided the dhaba where foreign liquor was being served to customers.
Earlier, the hotel association from Kalyan-Dombivli and Ulhasnagar wrote to state excise department claiming many dhabas in the city were serving liquor openly without fear of any government authority.
Hoteliers had demanded action against such dhabas claiming that due to such dhabas it has become difficult to do business in restaurants who sincerely pay all taxes along with license fees of Rs 7 lakh per year.
