The boss of Thames Water has promised to conduct a review into the company’s procedures, after a power outage left thousands of homes in west and south-west London with no or low pressure water.
Schools were forced to shut due to the incident on Wednesday morning, with the water firm saying the issue at its Ashford and Hampton treatment works had impacted more than 50 postcodes.
