TfL commissioner denies new DLR trains don't work in the rain as £1bn fleet remains stuck in sidings

London’s transport commissioner has dismissed suggestions that the withdrawal of the first of a £1bn fleet of new DLR trains was because they “don’t work in the rain”.

Andy Lord made the unexpected intervention as he admitted how frustrated he was that three new trains had to be taken out of service only a couple of weeks after being showcased to mayor Sir Sadiq Khan.
