The Briefing:

  • The first Cybercab rolled off the Gigafactory Texas assembly line on February 17, 2026, with continuous production running since April.
  • Tesla's Robotaxi service operates without a human supervisor across six cities — Austin, Dallas, and Houston in Texas; Miami, Orlando, and Tampa in Florida — currently priced at $3.25 base fare plus $1.00 per mile, making it 50–56% cheaper than Waymo on comparable routes. The steering-wheel-free Cybercab launched commercial rides exclusively in Austin on September 3, 2026.
  • According to Frost & Sullivan, a 14% reduction in North American collision rates by 2030 would be enough to wipe out 32% of the collision repair industry's revenue.
  • KPMG projects autonomous vehicle technology could shrink the auto insurance sector by 71%, or $137 billion, by 2050.
