Popular UK supermarket Tesco has substantially dropped the price of its Whoosh rapid delivery service just in time for Christmas.
The big name brand has announced that customers will only have to fork out £2.99 rather than £5, to have products delivered within one hour of ordering.
What's even better is that Tesco has told The Mirror that the cut is permanent from hereafter - with more than half of Whoosh deliveries being made within 30 minutes, according to the supermarket.

Not only coming just in time for Christmas, but also for the Qatar World Cup - online customers will be able to order snacks, beers and party foods - as well as fresh produce and other essentials for the household. Half of the UK population is apparently now covered by Whoosh according to Tesco - however, it may not prove as cost effective should you plan on bagging a number of deliveries each month.
The supermarket's Anytime Delivery plan - delivering food on the same day - costs £7.99 per month for as many orders as needed. This means that you would save more buying an Anytime Delivery subscription, compared to the Whoosh service should you plan on three or more deliveries in the month.
Do keep in mind though, that only Whoosh delivers in under an hour.
Tesco’s Head of Whoosh, Greg Bertrand, said: “We know football fans won’t want to miss a second of the action, making our superfast delivery service Whoosh the ideal way to keep your eye on the ball. And we’re cutting our Whoosh delivery fee to just £2.99 – meaning fans can get what they need delivered direct to their door within an hour for even less.”
While Whoosh deliveries are available for most of the UK Tesco has confirmed that more locations will be popping up around the country. Tesco shoppers will also be able to use their Clubcard when checking out.
Customers will also be able to follow their order from the store to their door as live updates will be available on the Tesco Clubcard & Grocery app. The news comes as Tesco is rebranding its “reduced to clear” section, to allow visibility for customers looking to save money on items.
Tesco will now have a whole section called 'reduced in price - just as nice' - where discounted yellow sticker items are normally found - in 100 stores by Christmas, then in more stores throughout 2023.
Meanwhile, Tesco is also offering customers two pizzas and one of a selection of alcoholic, non-alcoholic and soft drinks for just £5.50.
With the £5.50 pizza and drink deal, customers can choose from:
- Tesco Thin & Crispy Cheese Feast Pizza
- Tesco Thin & Crispy Pepperoni Pizza
- San Miguel, 4x330ml
- San Miguel 0.0% Alcohol, 4x330ml
- Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, 6x250ml
- Diet Coke, 6x250ml
