Tesco shoppers left furious after store scraps popular Clubcard deals

Tesco Clubcard customers have been left fuming after the supermarket scrapped its popular points system deals on sweets and chocolates amid the cost of living crisis. The supermarket has axed its long running three for £1.20 Clubcard deal on chocolate bars which included popular choices such as Kinder Bueno, Yorkie and Bounty which all individually cost between 60p and 70p.

The leading retail food store has also dropped another well liked promotion which included a three for £1 bargain on packs of kids' sweets such as sugar shrimps, dolly mixtures and bananas. Angry customers have taken to social media to broadcast their rage about Tesco's decision to scrap the long running Clubcard deals, the Mirror reports.

One person tweeted: “Actually in complete shock that Tesco have stopped doing the £1 for three bags of sweets deal.” Another said: “Tesco doesn't do the 3 sweet bags for £1 deal anymore, smh [shaking my head] cost of living crisis has gone mad.”

A third tweeted: “Pleaaaase bring back 3 for £1.20 chocolate and 3 for £1 strawberry laces I miss my sweet treats.” A fourth said: “It’s just an outrage that Tesco is no longer 3 for £1.20 on chocolate bars. This is what we call a cost of living crisis.”

Another said: ”Tesco appear to have stopped their 3 chocolate bars for £1.20. This has been a staple of my working life. Cost of living crisis has finally broken me.”

Tesco has been contacted by comment by The Mirror. It comes as new legislation that cracks down on junk food being promoted in supermarkets and retailers come into force this month.

Every major retailer including Asda, Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury's and M&S has had to make changes when it comes to products that are high in fat, salt and sugar (HFSS). Such items can no longer be placed in shop entrances or next to checkouts – known as high priority areas – in England.

A further ban on multibuy deals on HFSS foods – such as buy one get one free – has been delayed until next October due to the cost of living crisis. But Tesco said it would bring in the multibuy ban this month anyway.
