Tesco is warning customers not to indulge in a food favourite, amid fears they are contaminated thanks to a possible “microbiological risk.”
The supermarket giant has recalled a number of pates that they fear could make people poorly if consumed.
The three variations of pates have been taken off the shelves due to the safety concerns as they have the incorrect use by dates printed on the pack, making them unsafe to eat.
The three pates named in the recall are:
- Tesco Coarse Farmhouse Pate,
- Tesco Coarse Ardennes Pate
- Tesco Smooth Chicken Liver Pate
Customers are being advised not to eat the product and to return it to any store for a full refund if there have it in the fridge.
A Tesco spokesman said: “The product may pose a microbiological risk and may therefore make the product unsafe to eat.
“If you have purchased the affected date code of the above product, please return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required.

“No other Tesco products are affected by this recall. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
A spokesman for the Food Standards Agency (FSA) added: “Tesco is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.
“These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products.
“If you have bought any of the above products, please do not consume them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were purchased for a full refund.”
