Tesco Clubcard holders given two-week warning ahead of major change

Tesco Clubcard holders have been issued with a two-week warning ahead of a major change. The supermarket chain will close its current app on April 18.

Shoppers will then need to download a new Tesco Grocery and Clubcard app. Currently, users can scan a digital version of their Tesco Clubcard in stores and where they can collect points and vouchers.

The new app will allow for many of the same perks as well as some new features. Customers will be able to pay, view their points balance, spend Clubcard vouchers, order deliveries and check stock in stores on the new application.

And for those who don't want to download the new app, you can still collect points using the physical card.

Shoppers have high praise for the points card, which offers people huge discounts on everyday items. One person wrote on Twitter: "That Tesco Clubcard has really prevented me from going bankrupt."

Another said: "I like my Tesco Clubcard. I know people criticise it but as I order online deliveries, I get offers targeted at me. I've saved lots on my favourite food items, such as frozen fish and vegetarian products."

Customers have also been warned that from June the value of Clubcard points when redeemed with a rewards partner are going to be reduced. There will also be reduced points for filling up with fuel.

The store has also raised its minimum spend for home delivery orders to £50, which is a £10 increase from the current £40 minimum. Click and Collect orders will remain at the current minimum £25 spend across all Tesco stores.
