Struggling families can apply for payments worth up to £275 and spend them in shops including Tesco , Asda, Aldi, Argos, and Morrisons .
The payments are part of the government's Household Support Fund , designed to help vulnerable people pay for food, clothing or other household bills.
It will be distributed in the form of grants and vouchers handed out by councils in England.
