North Korea has once again raised tensions in the Korean peninsula by firing artillery shells near its border with South Korea. The military exercises, now in their third day, have caused panic in the region. South Korea has called on North Korea to cease these actions immediately.
On the latest day of the exercises, North Korea fired approximately 90 rounds towards the south from its western coast. Fortunately, none of the artillery shells entered South Korean territory, falling instead in the buffer zone between the two countries. No damage or injuries have been reported. As a precautionary measure, South Korea ordered civilians on Yongpyong Island to seek shelter.
