Australian tennis fans have been given a boost with their United States Davis Cup Finals last eight tie taking place in evening primetime.

The daunting quarter-final tie on Thursday, 21 November will be a morning slot in Malaga, 10am, which is 8pm AEDT.

Lleyton Hewitt's team have a tough task without, as seems likely, Aussie No.1 Alex de Minaur who is still feeling the effects of the hip injury he suffered at Wimbledon.

Instead Alexei Popyrin will lead the team in Spain backed by Jordan Thompson, Theo Kokkinakis, Max Purcell and Matt Ebden.

Spain will contest the first tie of the 'final 8' week on Tuesday, 19 November, taking on Netherlands in a quarter-final tie beginning at 1700 CET (0300 AEDT Wednesday). The other tie in the bottom half of the draw, Germany's clash with 2022 winners Canada, will be played at 1200 CET (2200 AEDT) on Wednesday 20 November.

After Australia's tie defending champions Italy face Argentina in the day's evening session.

The semi-finals will take place on Saturday, 23 November AEDT with a late start for tennis fans should Australia make it through, and an even later one should Hewitt's team reach the final (0200 Monday, 25 November AEDT).

Quarter-finals Wednesday, 20 November, 0300 AEDT: Netherlands v Spain, 2200 AEDT: Germany v Canada Thursday, 21 November, 2000 AEDT: USA v Australia Friday 22 November, not before 0300 AEDT: Italy v Argentina
