Ten Zone 1 homes for sale under £1 million — from the Barbican to Morrell’s Yard

Property price tags in London are all too often prohibitively expensive, let alone in travel Zone 1.

According to new data from Hamptons, buyers tempted by the ultimate in urban living now need to stump up an average of £1,536,970 for a flat and £4,484,720 for a house.

While flats made up nearly nine in 10 sales last year, a nine per cent rise in flat prices represents more subdued growth than the 14 per cent increase in the cost of a house. The price tag of a Zone 1 flat may have crossed the £1.5 million barrier for the second time, but they are selling for less on average than their 2017 peak.

Although a long way off being considered ‘cheap’, there are still properties to be found without wading into seven figures.

We’ve rounded up 10 of the best on the market now, from a large studio in a lesser-known Barbican block to a four-bedroom Georgian terrace in Clerkenwell.
