Bosses at 4Com said the business was “are constantly pursuing” pursuing new acquisition opportunities within the telecoms industry, as part of its ongoing growth strategy.

Chief executive Gary Scutt, said: “We are delighted with our latest customer-base acquisition of Meridian IT Communications. As we continue this acquisition journey, we are constantly pursuing new opportunities to further our expansion; the addition of this customer-base will complement and further that growth. We look forward to bringing our new customers on board and building a strong relationship with them.”

Danny Cox, a director at Hampshire-based Meridian IT Communications, said: “Although we are proud of our success in the telecommunications market, we have come to the decision to close the business, and selling our customer base was a key part of this process.

“We are very grateful for the integrity and patience 4Com have shown throughout our acquisition discussions. We are excited for the future of our customers who will now be looked after by this well-respected company.”
