A three-year habit of setting aside loose change helped a 51-year-old man in Telangana buy a new Honda Activa, with the entire Rs 1.23 lakh payment made in Rs 10 coins, local media reported. B Ravi Joseph, a resident of Luxettipet in Mancherial district, accumulated the money from coins received as change during everyday purchases, turning small savings into a major purchase.
Joseph began collecting the coins on October 10, 2023, and continued despite concerns raised by family members over rumours that Rs 10 coins might be discontinued or lose their legal-tender status. When he took the accumulated savings to a dealership, staff members spent nearly two hours counting the coins before confirming the total.
