Tekashi 6ix9ine rushed to hospital after brutal attack in gym bathroom

Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was hospitalised after being brutally attacked in the bathroom of a Florida gym.

On Tuesday, the controversial entertainer, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was rushed to hospital in an ambulance after a group of attackers inflicted severe blows to his face and body.

South Florida police were called to La Fitness gym.

Hernandez’s lawyer Lance Lazzaro confirmed the attack and said the “three or four men” responsible fled the scene after the incident.

In 2019, Hernandez was sentenced to two years in prison for drug trafficking, racketeering and firearm offences connected to a gang known as the Nine Trey Bloods.

After fully cooperating with officials and helping to land his criminal cohorts in prison, he was given a shorter sentence and released early.

The move was widely condemned by his fellow rap stars and hip hop fans, who labelled him a “rat" and a “snitch".

Hernandez was forced to have round the clock security to protect him from potential physical retaliation from angry fans and people connected to the gang members he “betrayed".

6ix9ine previously complained about how expensive it was to have 24 hour security since his release as his income from music has depleted due to his unpopularity.

Despite this, the artist, who has had Number 1 hit singles in the US and done a string of high-profile collaborations with the likes of superstar rapper Nicki Minaj before his incarceration, has refused to keep a low profile.

It is believed he did not have any security detail at the gym on Tuesday.

Evening Standard online has reached out to Tekashi 6ix9ine’s representatives for comment.
