Teenager from Irlam killed in road accident in Cheshire

One teenager has died and a second was left seriously injured after a motorbike they were on crashed. The boy who was killed was from Irlam and the tragedy happened in Cheshire.

At this stage police do not know which of the pair was riding and which was a pillion passenger. The youth who died was aged 17, and the other 13. Cheshire police have now issued an urgent appeal for witnesses. The location of the accident is a long country lane running from Culcheth which goes over the M62.

In a statement Cheshire Constabulary said: "Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Warrington. At around 9.30pm on Monday 18 July, officers were called to reports of a collision on Holcroft Lane.

"Sadly, a 17-year-old boy from Irlam died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. A 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen a moped and another motorbike around the time of the incident to come forward. The same goes to anyone who may dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident to come forward."
