Teenager, 14, fighting for life after being hit by bus

A teenager is in a "critical but stable" condition after being hit by a bus.

Police were called to reports of a crash on Victoria Road in Widnes on Wednesday, May 4 at around 4.40pm. When officers arrived at the scene they found there was a crash between a pedestrian and a bus near to the junction of Kingsway and Moor Lane.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service scrambled to the scene and said they were "working to save" the teenager. An air ambulance from Blackpool has also landed at the scene.

The pedestrian, a 14-year-old boy, was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital; his condition is currently described as critical but stable. Victoria Road, which is in Widnes town centre, was closed in both directions and a cordon is in place while emergency services deal with the incident.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone with any information that may aid their investigation. In a statement on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the force said at the time: Police were called at around 4.40pm to reports of a serious collision between a bus and a pedestrian.

"The ambulance service and fire service are in attendance. Victoria Road is closed in both directions while emergency services work to save the pedestrian. An air ambulance is also nearby."
