A teenager has been left hospitalised following a sickening attack on Irvine beach last night.
The 16-year-old was seriously assaulted at around 6.25pm at the beauty spot where thousands had flocked to earlier in the day to bask in the warm weather.
The youngster was rushed to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police confirmed today.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Officers in Ayrshire are appealing for witnesses following the serious assault of a 16-year-old male at Irvine beach.
The incident took place around 6.25pm on Monday, 18 July, 2022. The victim was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Detective Inspector Stephen McCulloch, from Saltcoats CID, said: “The beach was extremely busy at the time, given the hot weather, and so we’re appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or has potential footage to please come forward.
“Officers will continue to patrol beaches across Ayrshire in the days ahead, as part of the Safer Shores initiative, and encourage the public to act responsibly during the hot weather.”
