A teen who sang an impromptu duet with Lewis Capaldi on stage in Bristol says she now wants to collaborate with him on an original song. Yasmine Kabbara-Dolby, 17, got ''the opportunity of a lifetime'' when the pop star invited her to sing with him.
She had asked the singer if she could duet his 'Someone You Loved', during a Q&A session at the Marble Factory, Bristol on Monday. Yasmine, from Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire, wasn’t expecting him to say yes - as he was only supposed to play a three-song set.
But he agreed - and invited her up on stage. Yasmine, who studies song writing at the BIMM Institute, said: “I listen to Lewis’ music every day - his music made me a better songwriter.

''I can’t believe I’m getting to check this off my bucket list already. It was a Q&A show - so there was a host who started the show and then he opened up to the audience for questions.
“Lewis picked me to ask him a question - and I told him I’d already met him once before when he played at Rough Trade in Bristol, back in 2019. I told him about Someone You Loved being a poignant song for me and my family - because my stepdad, Dave, went through a double lung transplant in 2018 and it got us through a really tough time.
“He’s okay now, but the song is still really close to our hearts.” Once Yasmine got on stage, she “totally blacked out” and forgot the words to the song. Luckily, she managed to find the lyrics on her phone and sang the song without making any mistakes.
She said: “I didn’t feel like it actually started to sink in until he started singing. I’d just finished the chorus and couldn’t believe I was actually up on stage, singing with Lewis. The crowd was amazing - they all went crazy as soon as I started singing. They were so loud.
“I just feel like my life has 100 per cent peaked. I’m an artist myself and to have all of this new attention on my music is just amazing. It really helped.”After the show, Yasmine was approached by several fans and even a crew member from backstage.
She’s since gained 30 followers on her Instagram (@yasminekabbaradolby) and has 77 subscribers on her YouTube channel. She added: “I was in shock for quite a while afterwards.

“When I left the venue lots of people were like: ‘Is that Yasmine? Oh my god’ and tried to talk to me afterwards.
“One crew member came up to me and said he’d seen ‘many people’ perform that song with Lewis but that was by far the best. I think the emotional ties I have to the song made me give the performance my all.”
Going forward, Yasmine says her dream would be to collaborate on an original song with Lewis. She said: “It would be amazing to collab with Lewis on a song I’ve written in the future - the chances of achieving that wouldn’t be very likely, but that would absolutely be the dream.”
