Teddy Sheringham makes West Ham prediction and calls for Jarrod Bowen international recognition

Jarrod Bowen made it seven goals in seven games for West Ham after his first-half strike against Leicester City and popped up with a late assist to boot.

The England hopeful is the Hammers' in-form man at the moment and is being tipped for a Three Lions call up next month.

Bowen's performance against Leicester made it 20 goal contributions in 29 starts in all competitions this season with 12 goals and eight assists, the most of any English player in the Premier League.

Teddy Sheringham is the latest to call for Bowen to be selected by Gareth Southgate when he announces his England squad next month.

"I think he’s in and around it, he’s full of confidence at the moment. He’s exciting, he’s full of verve and he’s ready to take on any opposition," Sheringham told Genting Casino.

"You can see he’s excited about playing football and he’s at the top of his game, at the top level. When you look at the other players that are in and around the England squad that could be picked, not many are playing with the distinction that he is.

"I would put him in and give him a chance, “Show us what you can do at this level.” I think it’s exciting. He’s not just a flash in the pan, he gets hold of the ball, uses his body well, takes people on, shoots, brings other people into the game. I think he’s got a bit of everything, I really like him."

Bowen's form has been key to maintaining West Ham's push for a top-four spot and keeping them in the FA Cup. A late goal against Kidderminster Harriers spared the Hammers blushes in the cup, while his strike against Watford sealed all three points last week.

His goal and assist were enough to grab West Ham a point against Leicester City and with Europa League action returning next month Sheringham is excited for his former team's prospects this season.

"I’d love to see West Ham have a massive cup run like that, it would be unbelievable," Sheringham added.

"You’ve got to look at where clubs are at the moment, when Manchester United have been in the Europa League it’s like, “Yeah, they’ll win that. Well done.

"If West Ham go on to win the Europa League, wow, what an achievement that would be, that would be so exciting for everyone at the football club to get a trophy like that. Amazing."
