Fans of Ted Lasso can raise a glass and bed down for the night in the pub where the cheery American first immersed himself in the sometimes brutal charms of English culture.
The two series of AppleTV+'s football drama have proved an unlikely hit, in part due to the glimmering positivity and endless inspirational quotes of its eponymous character.
To celebrate the show’s triumphant return to the small screen on 15 March, Mae, the loveable pub owner and passionate AFC Richmond super fan played by Annette Badland, is hosting three stays at The Crown & Anchor pub via Airbnb.
It's actually a real pub, although the cosy British boozer is actually called The Prince’s Head.
Situated in Richmond, London, and right around the corner from Ted’s apartment, the pub is a gathering place for football fans and locals alike, and the unofficial meeting place of AFC Richmond players and coaches on the show.
Ted keeps returning to the pub after becoming acquainted with British ale, despite facing hostility from a group of loyal locals who are less than impressed with his managerial skills.
“The Crown & Anchor is an essential fixture for AFC Richmond - it’s where friends, colleagues and teammates come together to celebrate our triumphs or cope with the agony of relegation,” said host Mae .
“That’s why I’m pleased to host guests (and take the night off!). Time to give others the opportunity to experience the same camaraderie and sense of community that Coach Lasso inspires. After all, we’re Richmond ‘til we die."
Guests will experience what it’s like to stay overnight at the historic, neighbourhood pub for the first time, while putting themselves in the shoes of AFC Richmond coaches, players and pesky bar flies alike.
Four guests have the chance to stay overnight on 23, 24, 25 October 2023.
For only £11 a night – a nod to the number of players on the pitch - guests will be able to request to book three individual one-night stays.
Once there you'll be able to sink a few pints at the same table occupied by Ted himself.
The pub also has a dart board and a pinball machine to kill some time on, as well as an opportunity to show off your singing skills on a karaoke machine.
Ted Lasso fans can request to book this stay beginning Tuesday, 21 March at 6pm GMT at airbnb.com/tedlasso.
Guests are responsible for their own travel to and from Richmond.
Ted Lasso proved to be a huge surprise hit during the coronavirus lockdowns, and its return has been eagerly anticipated by fans.
In September it took home a number of top gongs at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, with star and co-creator of the comedy, Jason Sudeikis, aptly awarded the best comedy actor prize on the 74th annual edition of the ceremony.
The comedy also picked up prizes in a number of other categories. Among the winners was MJ Delaney, who won the Directing for a Comedy Series Award, and Brett Goldstein, who was voted the winner of the Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series Award.
