Just arriving in Bangkok is Curiosity Room By TED, a one-of-a-kind experiential interactive accommodation that promises to get the best out of your brain while offering a rest day of comfort.
Following a successful debut in San Francisco last month, Bangkok is the second city in the world to showcase this immersive guest room experience -- a partnership between Marriott Hotels Group and the award-winning educational community TED-Ed.
Guests booking the Curiosity Room, available at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park until Nov 15, will have a chance to enjoy the immersive adventure from the very first step into the room.
The 32m² double-bed unit features illustrations, exclusively created by American artist Caleb Morris (founder of the "Welcome To The Neighborhoods" art series), as well as several hi-tech elements and installations -- visible or hidden, that play a crucial part in the brain-teasing recreational stay. The guest is provided with a "curiosity journal" that serves as a guide to the in-room adventure with hints available via a QR code scan.
Levels of difficulty throughout the experience range from easy to fairly difficult. It might take from 45 minutes to two days to solve all the puzzles, depending on your wit and wisdom.
When the final challenge has been completed, guests will receive a certificate and can celebrate with a complimentary dessert at the hotel's restaurant.
The experience, all in English, is recommended for families and friends ages seven and up.
So if you are the type of hotel guest who often finds it hard to locate the light switches or adjust the room's air-con, this kind of vacation might not suit you. But if quizzes and riddles excite you, then you need to hurry because this special offer is available for a very limited time and with just one room per city.
Only three locations of the Curiosity Room By TED are available for booking, including the upcoming pop-up at the London Marriott to be launched next month.
Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park's general manager Simon Bell said: "The Curiosity Room By TED further fosters the notion for Marriott hotel guests to stay curious in their travels, opening their minds beyond a typical overnight stay and propelling them to explore Bangkok as a destination with a desire to learn something new."
Prices for The Curiosity Room package at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park start from 16,100 baht. It includes a two-night stay for up to four guests, a buffet dinner at Goji Kitchen + Bar, and a bakery item from Siam Tea Room.
