Leeds United remain embroiled in a battle for survival in the Premier League but the dramatic 2-1 win over Norwich City certainly eased worries about a return to the Championship.
The Whites had suffered six consecutive league defeats prior to the visit of the Canaries and had scored just twice during the miserable run.
Marcelo Bielsa lost his job as a result of the decline and his replacement, Jesse Marsch, failed to immediately reverse the club's fortunes and oversaw defeats to Leicester City and Aston Villa.
Rodrigo opened the scoring against Norwich although it appeared as if squandered opportunities had caught up with the hosts when the Canaries levelled in stoppage time.
However, substitute Joe Gelhardt notched a late winner to lift the roof off Elland Road and end the losing streak in dramatic fashion.
Four points now separate Leeds and 18th-placed Watford, whilst there is a five-point gap between the Whites and 19th-placed Burnley.
The Clarets do have two games in hand but Leeds will be hoping their narrow win sparks a revival which steers the club clear of the dreaded bottom three.
The victory over Norwich was not emphatic nor particularly stylish but Leeds supporters could not hide their elation when they took to social media following the full-time whistle.
@Crowther9195 tweeted: "Made it hard for ourselves but we 100% deserved the win. Easily should have scored five or six. Thought Rodrigo was outstanding today, as soon as he went off Norwich came back into the game. Huge win for us!"
@SJB_upnorth tweeted: "Don’t know about the players. I’m exhausted."
@chelsea_clarey tweeted: "Tears. Tears of joy. Tears of relief. Tears of hope. Come on Leeds!!!!"
@LeonGlennon tweeted: "Thought Rodrigo coming off changed the game for Norwich, not sure why that change was made so early but overall you have to say we should’ve blew them away with all our chances. Reminds me of Bielsa’s first season where we couldn’t score."
@superleedsmacca tweeted: "For all the criticism of late, not one of them players looked they don't care. The effort from all of them was on another level! Fully deserved! We are back in it!"
@seanfhealy tweeted: "That’s a healthier looking table now and dare I say that it brings Brentford back in to the scrap a little bit."
