Taylor Swift has broken a new record with the premiere of her 'Eras Tour' concert film on Disney+. The film, titled 'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version),' garnered an impressive 4.6 million views on Disney+ within its first three days of release, establishing itself as the top music film ever on the platform, as confirmed by the company. Over the weekend, Swifties collectively watched a staggering 16.2 million hours of the three-and-a-half-hour concert film on Disney+.
The expanded version of the film, which debuted on Disney+ globally on Thursday, March 14, at 6 p.m. PT, features five bonus songs, including 'Cardigan' from 'Folklore' and four acoustic tracks: 'Death by a Thousand Cuts,' 'Maroon,' 'You Are in Love,' and 'I Can See You.' Additionally, the film includes an Acoustic Collection extra comprising four songs, namely 'Death by a Thousand Cuts,' 'Maroon,' 'You Are in Love,' and 'I Can See You.'
The concert film was recorded during the first three L.A. shows of the Eras tour in August. Notable music films and specials currently available on Disney+ include Swift's 'Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions,' 'Elton John: Farewell From Dodger Stadium,' 'Black Is King: A Film by Beyoncé,' and 'The Beatles: Get Back.'
Reportedly, Disney+ secured worldwide streaming rights to 'The Eras Tour' concert film for over $75 million. The film initially hit theaters on October 13 and went on to amass an impressive $261.7 million at the global box office, solidifying its position as the highest-grossing concert film to date. Following its theatrical release, the film was digitally released by Universal Pictures on December 13, coinciding with Swift's birthday. The digital release included three bonus songs not featured in the theatrical version: 'Wildest Dreams,' 'The Archer,' and 'Long Live,' all of which are also part of the Disney+ version.
