The Eras Tour Book, a $40 coffee table hardback that promised to be the ultimate keepsake for Taylor Swift fans, has turned out to be an absolute flop.
Now, we all know Ms Swift is usually the queen of perfectionism. This is the woman who loves leaving a maticulously thought out Easter egg and plans her outfits with more precision than a military operation. So what the hell happened here?
Fans have been quick to dub this release “The Errors Tour Book”. We’re talking typos that would make your high school English teacher weep, photos blurrier than your vision after a big night out, and layout choices that scream ‘I just discovered Microsoft Publisher’. Literally some fans have posted multiple pages being upside down.
One particularly cringeworthy screw up? The song “This is me trying” is listed as “This is me rying”. Rying? Is that what we’re calling it when we’re simultaneously crying and trying? Because same, Taylor, same.
In a move that says “graphic design is my passion”, a photo of the “cardigan” singer and her dancers is spread across two pages, with Taylor herself disappearing into the spine. It’s giving Where’s Wally? pop star edition.
One X user said, “That $40 Eras Tour Book cash grab is full of straight up screenshots from The Eras Tour Movie.”
TikTok user @emermore7 didn’t hold back, saying the book reads like “first drafts” and questioning if it was even edited. Diva, at this point, we’re wondering if it was even spell-checked.
Some fans are defending the book, calling it a nice memento despite the flaws. Others are less forgiving, with one Redditor saying it looks like “something a fan made on Shutterfly”. Youch!
One unlucky Swiftie has also claimed their copy is missing pages 49 through 66. Come on!!
One X user wrote, “The Eras Tour book felt impersonal and rushed, I wish they had waited until after the tour was over to print it so they could’ve featured all of the guests she had and the new outfits. I also thought there’d be more insight and details rather than all pics.”
Look, we get it. Self-publishing is hard. But when you’re Taylor Swift and charging $40 (AUD $62) a pop, fans expect a bit more than something that looks like it was cobbled together during a particularly chaotic crafternoon.
So, Tay, we still love you, but maybe next time, call in a few more editors? Or at least someone who knows how to use spell check. Yes, I’m absolutely volunteering myself.
According to the Taylor Nation Instagram page The Eras Tour Book will be available for purchase internationally on December 8, 12am AEDT.
